Seismic Design








                South Approach Viaduct is located so close to the  activities during powerful earthquake for the first time in
                world’s one of the most active seismic fault  named as  Turkey as Reinforcet Concrete Diaphragm Wall method.
                North Anatolian Fault. This brings prequisite of serious
                analysis on 3 different  feedback perioded earthquake   Viaduct is going to be protected from seismic threats with
                scenarios like 150 years (FEE), 1000 years (SEE) and 2475  22 Lead Rubber Bearings, 108 Viscous Dampers (both
                years (NCE).                                           transverse and longitudinal) , 4 Spherical Bearings and 4
                Steel pier foundations are designed for mitigation of fault  Anti Uplift Devices.

                South Approach Viaduct consisted of 11 piers between 10 - 50 meters height. Total weight of steel piers are
                approximately 6.000 tons.
                Decks are consisted of 16 subcomponents which have 40 meters length, 35,93 meters width and approximately 800 tons
                weight as main components. South Approach Viaduct has 32 main components as deck parts. The sliding part of the
                steel deck is composed of 16 sub-components and produced as 28 blocs weighing 800 tons and which are 35,93 m-wide,
                40 m-long. The viaduct is built from 32 main constituents in total with the deck blocs added with the heavy lift method.
