South
Approach
Viaduct
Project Manager: Cengiz F. GÜMÜŞDAĞ
The steel structure of the South Approach Viaduct that is located at the
continuation of the Suspension Bridge is also an important structure that requires high
construction technology as much as Osmangazi Suspension Bridge construction (it requires
engineering processes demanding extensive knowledge such as processing of raw steel,
subjected to controls and tests and in situ construction) and all of them made by Turkish
contractors.
The South Approach Viaduct is at the Hersek Peninsula section of the project, constructed
on 1.378,92 meter route on 11 steel piers as steel deck between the km 7+081,76, starting
with the reinforced concrete abutment at the end of the south section of the Osmangazi
Bridge and the km 8+460,68 that is the last reinforced concrete abutment at the south,
the structure has been completed. The commissioning and handling over works are
ongoing.
