ain span of Izmit Bay Crossing Suspension
Bridge is 1,550 m, its each edge span is 566
m and it is total of 2,682 m long. Its total
length, together with the clearance spans
Min North and South is 2.907 meters. Its deck
width is 35.93 m, its deck height is 4.75 m and it has total of
6 lanes, 3 incoming and 3 outgoing lanes with 3.65 m wide.
In the construction of Suspension Bridge, total of 75.000
steel fabrications was used, 55.000 tons of it is structural
steel and 20.000 tons of it is main cable and suspension
ropes. The bridge footings, settled on the steel shafts came
out of the reinforced concrete foundations in the sea which
we call as towers of the bridge, and its deck is fabricated
from structural steel. On the other hand, there are 200.000
m3 reinforced concrete manufacturing for the foundations
of the towers in the sea and anchorage blocks to which the
main rope is attached.
