scan to the depth of -43 meters and of approximately
90.000 m3 for 2 foundations was performed in the area
where the Foundations of Tower Caisson will be settled
Ain the seabed meanwhile all these activities are carried
out. It is planned to penetrate 195 steel inclusion piles having 34.25
meters of height, 2 meters of diameter and 20 mm of thickness to
each place where the foundations will be settled after the scanning
is completed. The penetration of 195 piles is completed for the
North Tower Caisson, 165 of 195 piles of the South Tower Caisson
are penetrated and all of them will be penetrated before the date
foreseen in the Work Schedule. After the piles are completed, a filling
of 3 meters will be plugged on the seabed with a granular material
from -43 meters to --40 meters and the caisson foundations will be
settled unrestrainedly on this granular material; in other words there
are no connection between the piles and tower foundations. Yet, the
aforementioned piles are the ground improvement piles and enable
the ground under foundations to act as if they are blocks as a result of
the transferring the dead and live loads on the deck with suspension
ropes, primarily, to the main cable and then the towers and tower
foundations. Apart from that this design is a first in Turkey; it was
previously applied for Rion-Antirion Oblique Hanging Bridge in Greece..
