Ilısu Dam and HES
Project

According to Directorate General For State Hydraulic Works
(DSI) it has the world’s longest dam crest in Concrete Covered
Front Facade Rock Fill Type and will be the 4th biggest dam with
installed power. Construction works of 1.200-MW Ilısu Dam and
HES Project are proceeding even today where terrorism is at its most
intensive in Southeast thanks to NUROL - Cengiz consortium.
Ilısu Dam and HES Project are among the biggest hydraulic structures in
our country’s centennial vision and constitute one of the two feet of of GAP
Project (Southeastern Anatolia Project).
Ilısu Dam has 131-meter-height from the base and 1.200-MW installed power. It will
produce approximately 4,12 billion kWh energy annually. Total 23,76 million m³ of
body stuffing and total 104.000 m³ of front facade concrete have been completed. Total
physical realization of Ilısu Dam has reached 93%.
Ilısu Dam and HES, which cost 1 billion € in total, will make a contribution worth 1,3 billion TRY
to national economy only by producing electrical energy. Thanks to the contribution of Ilısu Dam
to national economy in the fields of irrigation and energy, the locals will prosper and their life style
and quality will change for the better. The project will be the remedy for unemployment in the area
by providing employment area for 4.000 people and means of living for another 28.000 including their
families. In addition to its being a project about agriculture and energy, it will substantially contribute to
the cultural, economic and social development of the area.
DSI General Director Murat Acu and the accompanying committee analyzed the area on which reposition
th
operations of City of Hasankeyf were held in the context of Ilısu Dam and HES construction in April 8-9 , 2017.
Within the scope of Ilısu Dam and HES projects and with the participation of General Manager Acu, 450-ton and
8.150-mm-diameter rotor was landed in power house unit 1 with a ceremony, which is one of the most important steps
in electromagnetic montage.
