DOUERA

DAM

The Douera Dam, the first Project realized in
Algeria by NUROL, has been totally completed
and the final acceptance has been conducted on
15.10.2017 after a warranty period of 3 years. The
dam, located at 27 km South-West of Algiers,
provides potable water to the Capital city and
irrigation water to the nearby farmlands of 17.200
ha in the Mitidja plain.

The Souk Tleta Dam, the second Project of
NUROL in Algeria, shall provide potable water
to the Capital Algiers from its 100 million m
3
reservoir. It is a zoned earth fill embankment
dam with a total volume of 3.000.000 m
3
earth-moving including the side embankment
(dig de cole).

After a suspension period of about 4 years owing to the expropriation problems in the lake area, the Project has been resumed
eventually since July 2016. At present; the diversion tunnels, no 2 of 8 m diameter for a length of 375 m, have been completed
including concrete lining, construction of the diversion inlet and outlet structures is in progress for realization of the river
diversion in early 2018. Besides, spillway excavation has been performed by blasting since June 2017. The dig de cole with an
embankment of 200.000 m has been completed. The dam embankment and spillway concrete is scheduled to commence

by the middle of 2018.
