Cooperation and Serial Production of Medium Weight Tank for Indonesian
Land Forces Contract is Signed in IDEF 2019

Mass Production of Kaplan MT (Harimau) Medium Weight Tank and Long Term Cooperation Contract is signed by PT Pindad and
FNSS during IDEF 2019. The parties agreed that 18 Kaplan MT Medium Weight Tanks are to be delivered within 2 years. To this end,
the serial production of the vehicles are going to be a joint effort for the Indonesian Land Forces.
FNSS and PT Pindad began developing their prototypes during late 2015, in accord with the Defence Industries Cooperation
Agreement signed by the Turkish and Indonesian governments. The design, development, and production of 2 prototypes were
finished in less than 3 years. The prototypes were challenged by rough and extensive tests by both the Indonesian Army and
FNSS, in both Indonesia and Turkey. Kaplan MT excelled in these tests and is approved for serial production. It is the first medium
weight tank to be certificated by the Indonesian Army. With this feature, Kaplan MT remains as the only medium weight vehicle
to be qualified and certificated by a user in the defence market.

FNSS MILDESIGN 2019 Awards Presented at IDEF

FNSS Savunma Sistemleri concluded the third FNSS MILDESIGN International Land Vehicles Design Competition with an awards
ceremony held during IDEF 2019.

The aim of the FNSS MILDESIGN International Land Vehicles Design Competition, which has been held every four years since
2011, is to support the land vehicle development efforts of the defence sector, and to encourage new designers to venture into
the field of defence. Some of the highest-ranking designers in the previous competitions have since started working in various
companies in the sector, including FNSS.

The competition promotes the design of military products that take human ergonomics into account. With emphasis on
innovation and new ideas, the event is notable in being the only international design competition with a focus on armoured
land vehicles.
