Following the construction in January of the first prototype in the tracked
Design Stage Complete KAPLAN Anti-Tank Vehicle (ATV) project, the vehicle is now undergoing
for KAPLAN and verification activities. The next stage will see the vehicle undergoing
qualification tests, which, once completed, will be followed by the serial
PARS ATVs production phase.
According to the defined schedule, the serial production of both the tracked
and wheeled vehicles developed under the ATV project by will be completed
by 2021, with 260 vehicles in total delivered to Turkish Land Forces Command.
KAPLAN MT Successfully Passed
Indonesian Army’s Challenging
Qualification Tests; Now Ready
for Serial Production
The KAPLAN MT Medium Weight Tank, a vehicle
developed jointly by FNSS and the Indonesian PT
Pindad company, has passed the qualification tests of
the Indonesian Army with flying colors.
KAPLAN MT has thus shown that it fully meets the
requirements defined at the start of the project, and is
now ready to serve.
The qualification tests were carried out in two parts: the
endurance tests, and the firing tests. Executed on the
island of Java between August 6 and 16, the endurance
test put KAPLAN MT through its paces in Indonesia’s
harsh natural conditions. The tests were performed
on the island’s Western side, following a route that
traversed different terrains and climatic conditions.
Starting at Bandung, the route passed through Cipali,
Tegal, Semarang, Sarangan, Jogjakarta, Kebumen,
Subang and Parompong, and culminated back at
Bandung.
The firing tests, on the other hand, were conducted
at Bandung between August 25 and 27, during which
KAPLAN MT demonstrated its ability to accurately
strike moving targets, even when the tank itself was on
the move.
