The idea to publish a magazine at Nurol first came to light a
quarter of a century ago, and after a short-lived endeavour, the
idea was revived by our Public Relations Department almost 10
years later in 2003. Back in those days, the executive with the
first and biggest interest in our “Magazine” project, which we had
presented to the Executive Committee with great excitement,

was our Legal Coordinator and Member of Board Şakir KALELİ. Our
ÇARMIKLI, and the first magazine was completed in a short time
thanks to the interest and close support of Mr. KALELİ. The first
issue of the magazine was subsequently published in May 2003
with the title “İSİMSİZİZ, İSİM SİZSİNİZ” (WE HAVE NO NAME,
THE NAME IS YOURS).
In the following issues of our magazine, which was given the title “NUROL DÜNYASI” (WORLD OF NUROL) by
our employees, we strived to develop the concept and to always present a meticulously prepared work, thanks
in no small part to the information sharing, follow-up and fastidiousness of Mr. KALELİ as the Executive Editor.
While preparing our magazine, we sought to not only share news of the projects, investments, products and
services of our companies, but also to reflect on our corporate culture and to make our readers feel like part of
a large family, based on our organizations that lend colour to our social lives outside work.
Our magazine, which started out as a very slim publication of just 32 pages back then, grew, improved and
thrived from year to year, like a seed turning into a tree, and is today a voluminous communications platform
of over 100 pages. Throughout this process, while enhancing our knowledge and skills under the guidance of Mr.
KALELİ with a view to enriching the contents of our magazine and communicating it in the best possible way to
the reader, we also learned to do our jobs properly and on time, without using even the most valid justifications
as an excuse. He always knew how to defend us against the criticisms of our bosses, and then to explain us
what had to be done, kindly but firmly, and then eventually to appease us all the time. I wish to avail myself of
this opportunity to express our gratitude to him once again. It is evident that Mr. KALELİ, as an executive with
the deepest knowledge of corporate culture and who gives us the inspiration and determination to succeed
through his foresight and prescient actions, has contributed greatly to the economic, cultural and social life of
our companies thanks to his principles and vision.
