                       “Interestingly enough, the first highway project of the Republic Era was the causeway between Artvin-
                       Borçka-Hopa, which is the hometown of our bosses. The construction of this road was started in 1924
                       and was put into service in 1938. At those times, the natural conditions were very challenging and since
                       there were no heavy construction equipments all the construction process had to be relied on manpower so
                       the construction work was proggressing in a very slow pace. The work was re-contracted in 1932 and was
                       commissioned to a French engineer to lead the project. The completion of the project lasted for 14 years.
                       Accompanying over the last 50 years of this historical and challenging journey of our homeland NUROL
                       is really a source of pride for us. Certainly, this was not an easy way to go for this magnificient structure,
                       although we get used to the successes of our company and suppose that everything were always been like
                       it is now. Aiming to provide a best qualified service, always trying to be the first and the excellent in all
                       fields of activity, our bosses Nurettin ÇARMIKLI, Erol ÇARMIKLI and M.Oğuz ÇARMIKLI keep on providing
                       added value to the national economy as well as pursuing the public interests with years of knowledge and
                       experience. And we, as  members of Nurol Family, are very lucky indeed by closely witnessing all these.
                       In this issue, you will read the detailed interview with Yavuz BATUM, CEO of Otoyol A.Ş., which is founded
                       by the associated companies of the consortium that won the tender, together with Nurol Construction.
                       Being not only Turkey’s but also yhe world’s one of the most important transportation investments Gebze-
                       Orhangazi- İzmir Highway Project, is the biggest project of the Rebuplican era with the build-operate-
                       transfer model realized in a lump and when completed will decrease the travel time between Istanbul and
                       Izmir to 3.5 hours. We now, as far as our pages allow to present, tried to share the information together
                       with the visual representations.
                       Today NUROL serves as a model under the roof of the strong company culture established by our bosses
                       together with our employees over the years, with the qualifications, trustwortiness and the “brand value” it
                       gained both inland and abroad. Putting signatures to huge investments, magnificient projects, significant
                       partnerships not only in the construction and contracting but also in various sectors both in Turkey and in
                       different geographies worldwide Nurol Group of Companies, keep on progressing and growing.
