The credit of 1.2 billion euro for the construction of Ilısu Dam in Souteastern Anatolia Project has been signed. 25 million part of the credit shall be spent for Hasankeyf. Güler said;” we shall make Hasankeyf a tourism center”. The ground of Ilısu Dam, constituting one of the most significant pillows of Souteastern Anatolia Project to be constructed over Dicle river was laid in last August by the Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan . As the credit problem for the dam to be constructed by the consortium under the presidency of Nurol İnşaat could not be resolved, no further works have been accomplished for the last one year. The credit of 1.2 billion euro required for the construction of Ilısu Dam has been provided by the agreement between State Hydraulic Works and the Consortium under the presidency of Austrian Vatech Finance GmbH which was signed yesterday upon a ceremony held in the Energy Ministries of 4 countries with the attendance of 14 countries. In the consortium, besides Austria, German and Swedish finance corporations are included as well. The dam to be constructed in the area with 15 kilometers – distance to Dargeçit district of Mardin and 45 kilometers – distance to Syria border shall be the second greatest dam in Turkey in terms of the magnitude of its body, whereas the fourth one in terms of energy volume.
