Proposal letters of Gebze – Izmir Highway Build – Operate-Transfer Contract were opened at June 19, 2009 and it was announced that NUROL – Ozaltin – MAKYOL – Astaldi – YUKSEL – Gocay Group gave the best bid proposal with a duration of 22 years and 4 months. Within the scope of the contract which will become absolute after the bureaucratic procedures and approvals, approximately 420 km long highway turnkey construction and operation of business, and it will be delivered to the Authority at the end of the operation period. Within the the scope of the project, whose bids had been received last April and whose adequacy and technical reviews were completed during the time passed, a 3.0 km in total length and 1.7 km open bay passing length suspension bridge, which will be the world’s second longest suspension bridge, the Izmit Bay Crossing Bridge, will also be built.
