The members of the Bursa Branch of the Chamber of Civil Engineers paid a visit to the construction site of the bay suspension bridge which constitutes an important stage of the Istanbul-Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway Project. Visitors were happy with the rapid rising of the bay bridge! Following the Marmaray, the project of the century, the engineers had the opportunity to closely observe the work during their visits to the construction site of the bay suspension bridge within the scope of Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway Project, which is planned to reduce the distances between Istanbul-Bursa and Istanbul-Izmir to 1 hour and to 3,5 hours, respectively. When completed, the bridge will interconnect Dilovası, located on the northern coast of Izmit Bay, with Hersek Burnu, located on the southern coast thereof, and be the forth-longest central span bridge in the world with 1550 meters central span and 2862 meters length in total.
