The ground breaking ceremony of Gebze – Orhangazi – İzmir Highway (including İzmit Bay Crossing and Access Roads) was held on Thursday 28 October 2010 with the participation of the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, Minister of Transport and Communication Binali YILDIRIM, Minister of National Defence Vecdi Gönül, Faruk Nafız ÖZAK, Minister of State Faruk ÇELİK, Members of the Parliament, Ambassadors, Governors, Mayors, Heads of Public Institutions and the press members.
In the ceremony, our Vice Chairman Oğuz ÇARMIKLI speaking on behalf of Highway Investment and Management Co. that is composed of Nurol – Özaltın – Makyol – Astaldi – Yüksel – Göçay Companies stated that they took part in the biggest build-operate-transfer project since the establishment of the Republic of Turkey and they were aware of their responsibility with regard to the contribution of this project to Turkey.
