TÜMAD Lapseki Gold and Silver Mine was the first Turkish Mining Enterprise to be certified by the United Nations Environment Commission International Cyanide Institute by fulfilling the Cyanide Code (ICMC)’s requirements consisting of 9 policies, 29 procedures, and nearly 200 articles regarding the safe and environmentally sound use of cyanide.
The International Cyanide Code is one of the most well-established certification programs in the mining sector, developed by a multi-stakeholder steering committee, covering the entire process of supply, transportation, storage, facility use, and communication with stakeholders of gold and silver producing companies.
It is also a significant gain for our country that TÜMAD, which continues operating following sustainable mining criteria with the best applicable technologies without compromising its quality with all its employees, has an international cyanide code.
