The first stage of the Ordu Ring Road, constructed as part of the Black Sea Coastal Road Project, was inaugurated with a ceremony joined via a live link-up by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; Mehmet Cahit Turan, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure; and Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, the General Director of Highways. The opening of the road effectively reduces the time require to cross the city from 40 to 10 minutes. The project design works for the ring road had initially been launched in 2007, and following the conclusion of a tender valued at ₺553 million, the foundations of the road were laid in July 2012. Costing approximately ₺1.9 billion, the first stage of the ring road comprises three stretches of double-track tunnels measuring 6.5 kilometers; a bridge of 44 meters; five double-track bridges with a total length of 2.5 kilometers; and six intersections, two of which include bridges.
