An important event was held on the evening of November 10 in Toronto on the sidelines of the events organized to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Canada, and November 11 Remembrance Day, which is a very important day for Canadians. The event was also held to remember Ataturk on the 80th anniversary of his death. The event was organized jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Turkish General Consulate in Canada, and was attended Hikmet Çetinkaya who gave an exhibition and performance. As the common poppy is the symbol of Remembrance Day, Hikmet Çetinkaya’s paintings of poppies were very meaningful at the event.
Earlier in the day, Erdeniz Şen, Turkish Consul General to Canada, painter Hikmet Çetinkaya and Yüksel Maden visited Toronto-Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie to present her with a painting by Hikmet Çetinkaya.
