For Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), armored amphibious assault vehicle (ZAHA) has been developed. ZAHA, which FNSS has started to develop and produce, will enter into the Naval Forces inventory. The technical characteristics of ZAHA were determined by considering the operational concept and mission requirements of the Navy. It was targeted to make the vehicles better than their competitors in terms of the number of personnel, ballistic and mine protection level, land and water performance criteria. For the Navy, 27 ZAHA will be produced as 2 rescue vehicles and 2 command vehicles.
ZAHA will take the marines from ships from 15 miles (28 kilometers) out of the open sea and bring them to land. ZAHA can able to withstand 4 gale force and 2,5 meters of waves. ZAHA, which can move on 60 degree steep slopes and 40 degree side slopes, can overcome 90-centimeters of obstacles and 2-meter ditches. ZAHA also has weapons of defense, such as a grenade launcher and a machine gun, to counteract any possible attacks.
