Ankara Nurol Art Gallery hosts the works of Ayhan Türker, one of the most important painters of the Turkish Impressionist generation and has 50 years of experience under his belt in his art. The exhibition consists of oil paintings and watercolor works composed of artist’s nature landscape, still-life themes and İstanbul impressions. Ayhan Türker states that he works without being caught up in fashion trends, as Cezanne says, “in line with the nature” and using all kinds of materials in an impressionist mentality. Türker, which is deemed the most important representative of the “Çallı generation” by today’s art critics, has a special place in the Turkish painting arts with his İstanbul-based landscapes; his interpretation of İstanbul with a poetic and romantic aesthetic shows that he is always different than the similar artists. With this feature, the artist is also defined as “İstanbul Impressionist”.
