The tender of the Gebze-Orhangazi-İzmir Highway (including İzmit Bay Crossing and Access Roads) Project was held on 9 April 2009 and the offer of 22 years and 4 months (construction + operation) from NUROL – Özaltın – Makyol – Astaldi – Yüksel – Göçay group was chosen as the best offer. The contract that was initialized by the General Directorate for Highways after the tender was approved by the Higher Planning Council as a result of the examinations and contributions of organizations such as Treasury, State Planning Organization and Finance and it was signed by the parties on 27 September 2010 as the biggest highway project of Turkey.
