Work on the Anti-Tank Vehicles (ATV) project, the contract for which was signed between the Presidency for Defense Industries (SSB) and FNSS to meet a Turkish Armed Forces requirement, is continuing at full pace. Under the project, FNSS has already readied for production the lightest member of the Kaplan tracked vehicle family, along with its Pars 4×4 wheeled vehicle. These armored vehicles have also been integrated with anti-tank turrets developed specifically for the project, which are meant to enhance the combat effectiveness of the anti-tank missiles found in the Land Forces Command’s inventory and/or developed indigenously. All of the 260 wheeled vehicles to be rolled out as part of the project will field the OMTAS (Medium Range Anti-Tank Weapon System), while some of the tracked vehicles will field the OMTAS, while others will field the Kornet-E. While testing is still underway for the wheeled and tracked vehicles developed under the project, the first firing test with an indigenous missile has already been performed, resulting in a highly accurate strike. The firing test marked the crossing of an important milestone in the project.
