The Special Operations Department of the Turkish National Police will utilize, against the threat of being shot during the future operations, the shields which are manufactured through benefiting from boron. The shield which was developed by Nurol Technology and can be carried by a single person has started to serially be manufactured. It is known that Turkish Armed Forces prefer shield systems made of boron carbide ceramic since they are three times lighter than steel shields. This technology was introduced at IDEF 2013 fair. These developed plates come into prominence owing to their lightness when compared to their equivalents imported. Additionally, these plates provide full protection against infantry rifles such as Kalashnikov with high shooting power. In Hürriyet, Mr. Ergün İşgör, the General Manager of Nurol Technology, has said: “Chest plates made of ceramic increase mobility of military and security forces and provide high performance against armour piercing bullets in particular.” The ceramic armour solutions will, on demand, be used for the protection of armpit, groin, shoulder and calf where important organs of the body are present. Developed for the full protection of the body, the ballistic protective vests bear different features such as ammunition chambers, the drinking water part of which is demountable and as rapid demounting in such a way as to meet the needs during long-term operations. Having drawn attention at IDEF 2013 Fair, the plates captured the attention of not only official authorities but also foreign senior officials.
