Contrary to the information reflected to public, Turkey aims to increase its cooperation with Saudi Arabia cooperation in the defense industry. Turkey has been invited as guest of honor to AFED Fair 2018.
Nail Kurt, the General Director and Senior Manager of FNSS, the first private sector defense industry organization of Turkey, stated that they were expecting to make the 7th agreement of Saudi Arabia, which they had been working for more than 13 years. Kurt stated that their initial entry into the country began with the operation of a military factory belonging to the Saudi Arabian Land Forces in 2004, which carried out the modernization of the M113 model vehicles.
Noting that they have signed six agreements after that work with Saudi Arabia side is they are currently expecting to sign the 7th agreement, Kurt also said that they also sell some new vehicles directly from Turkey within the framework of their works in the country. Pointing out that Saudi Arabia is a very important market as well as being a friendly country, Kurt said: “Saudi Arabia wants to develop the defense industry within the framework of its 2030 Vision and attaches great importance to the localization. This vision is the product of the last 2-3 years, but it has been proven that we are on a right and correct track as the company in terms of being here for 13-14 years.”
